About Vicki Middleton

Vicki Middleton is an experienced arts manager who has worked in the performing arts industry for almost 20 years. In 1994 Vicki founded Frantic Assembly with friends Scott Graham and Steven Hoggett. The company quickly established itself as one of the UK’s most critically acclaimed physical theatre companies, working with the countries most celebrated contemporary writers, directors and choreographers. Frantic Assembly produces inspiring, cutting edge, accessible theatre and is championed for attracting new and young audiences to the theatre in their droves. During her ten years with Frantic, Vicki built the organisational and financial side of the company from scratch, produced and promoted all new work and special projects and programmed, produced and toured Frantic’s work in over 30 countries throughout Europe, North & South America, the Middle East, Asia and Africa (including West End and New York runs). In 2004 at the age of 31, Vicki was featured in The Guardian newspaper as one of the UK’s top 9 producers .

In 2004 Vicki moved to Sydney, taking up post as General Manager of Legs on the Wall, Australia’s leading physical theatre company. She increased staffing levels by 80%, established a highly profitable commercial arm of the company in line with artistic objectives, led a successful rebranding campaign, increased core funding and nurtured new international links worldwide.

In January 2007 Vicki moved over to Sydney’s much loved Belvoir Street Theatre as General Manager. Belvoir produce razor sharp and thought provoking work all year round at the historic Belvoir Street Theatre. Vicki led Belvoir in a year that was one of the companies most successful ever, both artistically and financially. In 2007 turnover increased by a massive 270%, in part due to the artistic success and strategic programming of Keating!, coupled with five sell out shows at Belvoir St. Theatre. During her time, Vicki initiated an organisational audit with Arts Consultants Sue Natrass and Sue Procter, which led to some key changes in the organisational structure of the company (including 6 new staff positions). After falling pregnant, Vicki left Company B in early ’08 to start a freelance career, establishing Middleton Arts.
